2015 BEST DRESSED OSCARS MOMENTS

posted by Elshane on Feb 23 2015, under Life of a Stylist

It's the teamwork between Lupita Nyong'o and her stylist, Michaela Erlanger, that keeps her on the best dressed list carpet after carpet. It's rare that you find a stylist and talent duo that work so well together. They take all the right risks, and it pays off every.single.time.

Lupita Nyong'o in Calvin Klein tailored to perfection!

Finally Jennifer Aniston brought her red carpet game to awards season on this carpet! Her past award show looks have missed the beat-- for a chick who can call in any designer in the entire world, it was a series of let-downs over the past two months.

This Versace gown is true to Jennifer's signature body conscious style, but brings her into glam-shabaam-thank-you-ma'am-mode! This is the kind of gown that looks better in person than in photographs because of the intricate beading and layers of fabrication. Meaning? She's having a lot of fun tonight feeling beautiful...

This is what accessories game strong is all about! Thanks to talented stylists who know how to place just the right conversation piece on the right person, both Margot Robbie (above) and Faith Hill (below) knock-knocked on the golden best dressed doors tonight with their minimal and chic gowns, adorned with stellar, stand out necklaces.

FARMERS MARKET SUNDAZE

posted by Elshane on Feb 16 2015, under Fashion

I can honestly say I still don't understand the full appeal of a farmers market. Farm to table produce? Ehhh. The flowers are never as fresh as my go-to flower shops, I'm never in dire need of a homemade eggplant garlic hummus, and I'm more than fine with the organic bananas from my routine trip to Trader Joe's.

The only alluring factor is of course simply the activity of walking the farmer's market! What to wear, who to bump into, and most importantly, what batch of strawberries to throw on an Instagram post (why do strawberries get so many likes?!). If it was up to me, there should be a lot more time spent at a roller skating rink than at a stand of Brussel sprouts. But hey!

TUXEDO HER

Any sunny day is National Turban Day. Ain't no shame in my turban game.

This turban is actually just a vintage scarf tied in a rose knot in the front of my head. I just made up the word "rose knot"-- I basically just tied a knot that was a little extra poufy and tucked in the ends of the scarf underneath the rose bulb. A rose knot.

And now you understand why you need to go to college to be a fashion stylist....

Mixing sarcasm with straight truth everyday since '84.

GRAMMYS RED CARPET 2015

posted by Elshane on Feb 8 2015, under Life of a Stylist

Rihanna in Giambattista Valli is breathtaking. I am bummed but not shocked to read that I'm in minority here (the instagram side-by-side's of Princess RiRi vs. a shower pouf are totally unnecessary). I couldn't disagree more. She is a vision in couture! #1 STUNNA!

Chrissy Teigen in Emilio Pucci is like a Hermes box underneath the Christmas tree right now... totally understated, chic, refined... yet you know once she's opened she's on fire! For the character that she is, I'm happy to see that she let her husband shine on his day, and didn't go overly glam like she could have.

For the exact reason that Chrissy killed it in her understated couture, I bring you the latest in Kim Kardashian overdone (yet perfectly glam) Jean Paul Gaultier. No hate will ever come out of my mouth for an overly glam lewk! Supporting your husband in JPG is something that I hope to achieve in my near future, too. Girl's got game, and I'm down to cheer for it.

It pains me to put Taylor Swift in this Elie Saab dress on my best dressed list, because it's not completely WOW. But, she looked flawless, took a risk with the shoes, and strayed from her typical tooth-fairy gowns, so for that reason, she gets my nod.

NEW NORMAL

Sometimes I can't control the G inside of me. Something about gold chains and a fitted cap that just makes me want to do a {Jewish white girl} shimmy down the block.

That's the great thing about clothing-- it can really be that icing on your confidence cake. My gold chains are like my warrior shields, my magic fairy dust, my glass slippers. They make me feel most me

Do you have an item that you can't live without? How does it make you feel? I'm mainly asking because I'm genuinely curious how not everyone else feels exactly the same way I feel about gold chains...

CADDY CHIC

posted by Elshane on Feb 2 2015, under Health/Fitness

Every activity is the perfect excuse for an outfit to match. Last Sunday I went to the driving range and the case here was no different.

Here's a list of some of my favorite places to "dress the part", and exactly what I'd wear...

Sunday Brunch. Always choose chic over cheap. A floaty knee length skirt, kitten heel, tailored blouse. Cat eye sunnies and structured box clutch. Sort of like Breakfast at Tiffany's... but more like Breakfast at Elshane's...

Friday Night Date Night (Dinner and Movie Style). Play up wifey-chic in your most flattering denim, a comfortable but sexy walking heel, tucked in tailored blouse, and a trés expensive jacket that you wouldn't wear to a beer-spilling bar. Save those LBD's for Date Night (Nightclub Edition).

Professional Sporting Game: Don't even get me started here, NO better place to shine! Backwards hat, great eye makeup, crop top, high waisted A-line mini skirt, thigh high socks, wedge sneakers, and a Tokyo-approved backpack. It's like, you could get on the field, but you'd rather drink Rosé and watch from the box seats...

First Impression Dinner (Work Environment): Kill 'em with chicness but play with prints and color. Pencil skirt, fitted top in mixed patterns. Your perfect killer designer heel. A mix of Victoria Beckham and Carrie Bradshaw. Yes!

The Roller Disco: Channel that inner Beyoncé. Printed leggings layered under cut-off jean shorts. Wild, wild hair. Wild, wild smile.

POM AND CIRCUMSTANCE

posted by Elshane on Jan 28 2015, under Fashion

This is my "I can't wait for the Super Bowl" face. Give me a reason to daytime celebrate and I'll give you 10 shots of tequila reasons to hang by my side.

This year we were going to extend our annual Super Bowl rager-- last year's was equip with a basketball dunk bouncy castle and a hella-lotta beer pong-- but unfortunately our new #elspanishoasis custom living room couch won't be delivered in time. This hostess doesn't host a party without seating.

So we're giving it a rest this year, and planning to make the most of Uber and our friend's sweet house in the Hollywood hills...

File under: I love parties.
