MINI DRESS AND HIGH TOPS

posted by Elshane on Jul 19 2016, under Fashion

Anything leopard, anything goes. It's my second skin, my black, my security blanket, my happy place. And leopard on leopard? DOUBLE RAINBOW!

Move over Real Housewives of {insert any city here}. Leopard is more than just a tight cougar dress. Hey hey, no hate for tight cougar dresses or any Real Housewives (shout out to Andy Cohen all day everyday), r-e-s-p-e-c-t. But, just saying... there are cooler ways to wear leopard.

Peak into any fashion influencer's life these days and spy her rocking a mini dress with classic kicks. It's an easy style victory that can go from the office to the bar to the pick-up line at school! {... you like how I so casually just dropped in my new motherly role?}

Wait a minute... maybe I am a Real Housewife after all...

HOW TO TIE A NECK SCARF

posted by Elshane on Sep 1 2015, under Fashion

It takes a bold woman to walk these streets.

Time Square, that is. Not for the true blood New Yorker. The crowds, the annoying street performers, the sloooow walkers, it's everything a New Yorker is bred to despise.

But, more importantly, how to tie a micro scarf:

To tie this scarf around my neck, I used a square silk scarf. I CUT the scarf diagonally in half, to create two triangles. Using one of the triangles, I rolled it up like a bandana and gave it a side knot on my neck.

The scarf toned down the dress, allowing me to take a more evening dress and turn it into an effortless daytime lewk!

VINTAGE VIXEN

posted by Elshane on Aug 26 2015, under Fashion

This lewk redefines power dressing. It's overstated, understated, and just the right amount power chick.

It's the perfect prescription for business meeting to office chic to boss ladies who lunch.

I paired her with whimsical earrings to give the lewk the lighthearted spin she deserved. Verdict? We won.

BIKE AND THE CITY

posted by Elshane on Aug 19 2015, under Fashion

There's really no way to stop a girl in cowboy boots.

Slangin' a crystal chain Louboutin backpack.

And a trusty bicycle.

Possibly too long to be a Haiku, but for the sake of fashion, it works.

BLACK MAGIC

posted by Elshane on Jan 2 2015, under Fashion

It's the dress that made me do it...

Go black, that is.

Slightly sad, slightly normal. At least my leopard booties gave me a step in the right direction, but otherwise, this is as *basic* as it gets. The construction of this dress was a must for me-- I'm a sucker for a super low V (as you may recall my wedding dress's V that nearly touched my belly button)-- and I was in New York with little accessories to pump it up. Nonetheless, for a night on the town, this was all GO.

Ever feel a little out of your comfort zone and just roll with it? Well, such was this evening when I felt like a black basic boochild in my black basic look. My typical hair down moment was not giving me YES, so I went into 180 degree overdrive. I threw my hair in the world's messiest bun, added a deep red wine stained lip, and took an alter ego that night. I pushed my limits.

And it worked. I think?

No photoshop skills here. Eekkk.

GREEN WITH ENVY

posted by Elshane on Dec 23 2014, under Fashion

A monochromatic looks takes the win time after time. It's quite possibly the most effortless way to journey into chic-ville. Grab two like-colored items in your closet and pair away. Of course, if you're going to choose pink on pink, like I frequently do, you may not end up in chic-ville, but rather Candy Land...which is equally, if not more heartwarming IMHO!

Curious about what colors are best in a monochromatic scheme? Stick to safe hues to start like navy, olive, or ivory. Don't forget a smile and a shoulder swag to finish the lewk!

LIPSTICK CITY

posted by Elshane on Dec 15 2014, under Fashion

The energy I feel when I pair like-minded, attitude-infused pieces together is unexplainable. Dressing in color, volume, print or texture isn't always about the shock value to others-- it's something that just makes sense in my life. It's not dressing up to stand out. It's dressing up to fit in... with myself.

This shockingly cool coat mixed with my vintage cat-eye sunnies add instant attitude to an otherwise typical New York black on black moment; a hop in my step and a shoulder swag to match.

You can't wear cat-eye sunnies and pretend to be beige inside. Just like you can't wear a pink winter jacket and pretend that you're not the lead character inside the most picture-esque fictional snow globe bubble town. Let the sparkly snow fall all over you, and brush it off with a smile.
