VIRTUALLY VERSAILLES

posted by Elshane on May 29 2014, under Fashion

There's no better feeling in the world (back massages, basking in the sun, cracking open a lobster, coming home to a Chanel handbag at your doorstep)...

One of the greatest feelings in the world is when a woman puts on a real dress. A dress where she can twirl in her heels and watch behind her back as the fabrication follows with each turn of her head.

A real dress is one that makes a girl feel like a woman. Oozing power, sophistication, and a taste of seduction from every angle.

One she can slip on in the morning without an extra hand, and slip off at night without a peep. One that makes her go to bed with a stealth grin while recounting the steps in her day. In her real dress.

This Tibi dress is a real dress.

RODEO RULES

Rachel Zoe spring collection. She just gets me.

Brief DIY interjection about my black suede choker necklace:

Buy a long black suede string (craft store).

Double wrap around your neck.

Act like a 90's cowgirl.

BOTTLE ROCK

posted by Elshane on May 21 2014, under Fashion

Hi, my name is Elshane and I’m a music festival junkie. Well, let me tweak that statement and just say a fun-seeker. An outdoor festival fun-seeker. Hi.

Therefore, it’s only natural that Napa Valley’s BottleRock Music Festival would be on the top of my list of all-time fun-seeking festivals. A festival that integrates wine connoisseurs, food truck enthusiasts and music lovers alike in the sprawling greenery of San Francisco’s outer banks? Yeah, that will work.

As classy as wine-infused music sounds, your lewk must fit the bill...

Take Jeremy Scott’s cue from Moschino this season, and skip the Coachella “Cheap” and go straight to “Chic” for this festival lewk. I chose this airy pencil skirt with a flirty top because, well, won’t I look great holding a glass of Merlot in this? Oh, and don’t forget a wild headpiece. Never forget a wild headpiece.

WHITE HOUSE DOWN

posted by Elshane on May 20 2014, under Fashion

Taking a trip to Washington D.C. this weekend was a sweat-induced exercise in U.S. History. All of those facts we learned when we were younger: the dates, the names, the series of events, the teams, the victories and heartbreak, slowly resurfaced, as if I closed the book on History of the Americas 101 just a few years ago.

Funny enough, I was re-learning the banes of my youth during the my daily informational strolls around D.C., while at night, reading #GIRLBOSS by Sophia Amoruso, friend and founder of NastyGal. She recounts her youth of being the anti-student, never absorbing, always fighting the rules, jumping from school to school, perpetually quitting, and eventually homeschooling.

Sophia and I are now in a place of trajectory fashion domination (fair enough, her best-selling author status and $100+ million dollar company review gives her an edge), but we both forgot what year the Civil War started.

The only difference seems, I care that I forgot.

She doesn't.

INDIAN SUMMER

posted by Elshane on May 14 2014, under Fashion

A jumpsuit can go such a long way… CUE:

Ate too much breakfast. Jumpsuit.

Can’t find my jeans. Jumpsuit.

Didn’t shave my legs. Jumpsuit.

Nail are too long to handle zippers. Jumpsuit.

Don’t feel like fitting in. Jumpsuit.

Don’t feel like standing out. Jumpsuit.

List can go on.

I am grooving with this neutralized pink hue for spring. It’s an ode to mauve, which is a scary hue for many, but the brightness of this core pink gives it a nod of mod.  You can try the hue in just about any silhouette, which you can find on my shopping scroll, below! I vote for a top to pair back to white jeans for effortless summer chic.

ARMY DROPOUT

posted by Elshane on May 12 2014, under Fashion

I've been a huge fan of the drop crotch ever since I spent nearly a year ON TOUR with Justin Bieber {styling opening act Carly Rae Jepsen} and watched him eat, sleep and breathe the drop.

There's a certain air of confidence that comes with walking with a secret stash in your crotch. I've been known to carry extra gold chains and sometimes Peanut M&M's in the open, unused space. I can only imagine what Justin was slangin' in that crotch all year long.

Meaning? A drop crotch is only for a select few who are in need of multi-tasking. Or a third hand.

Do you dare?

COOL FOR CULOTTES

posted by Elshane on May 6 2014, under Fashion

Effortless flow comes with the territory of random summer heat waves in California. Such was the case this past Saturday while visiting the LACMA. In 95 degree dry heat, I grabbed the airiest item in my closet, these brand new (and mega affordable) culottes that give spring a perfect note of cool. Pack away the summer flowy skirts and replace them with this season's version: the culotte/ gaucho/ pants jam that has every blogger whispering from afar ;)

Who knows, the dance in these pants might just have you stopping for an impromptu stop-and-shoot to stake your claim on this breezy new silhouette territory. Just promise me you won't wear them with flip-flops, k?
