Dressing your skin is equally, if not more, important than dressing your sweet lil' body. I've learned so much about skincare over the years from being on set of photoshoots with talented celebrity makeup artists and Estheticians. The biggest thing I've learned? One layer is hardly enough...
My morning skin routine is an under 10 minute stress-free process. Follow along for ageless skin :)
STEP 1: After your morning shower and facial cleanse, start your routine with a gentle exfoliating toner. The purpose of a toner is to remove any excess makeup and residue that your facial cleanser leaves behind. It leaves your skin tight and smooth-- the perfect blank canvas for what comes next.
My favorite toners:
For dry skin: Bliss Daily Detoxifying Facial Toner
For oily skin: SkinCeuticals Conditioning Solution
Tip: Toners can be used multiple times per day and night. My favorite facial fix is to apply a generous coat of toner immediately after a sweat-induced workout (after washing my face). My pores are open and the toner sinks inside my skin and starts kicking out all of the toxins and zits that are trying to sneak up on me!
STEP 2: Once your toner settles in and breathes for about 2 minutes, apply a pea sized amount of eye cream underneath your eyes and along the outside creases.
My favorite eye cream:
SkinCeuticals AOX Eye Gel
Tip: I also apply a small amount of eye cream to the fine lines on my forehead and the laugh lines around my mouth. Since eye cream is just a more dense, specially formulated version of a daily moisturizer, it's best suited for any area on your face that is extremely delicate and susceptible to wrinkles.
STEP 3: Wait about 2 minutes for the eye cream to settle in, then grab a Vitamin C treatment containing special acids to boost collagen in your face and protect you against photoaging (long-term sun and UV exposure).
My favorite Vitamin C treatment:
SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic
Wait about 2 minutes for the Vitamin C to settle in, then apply its best friend, a moisture-enhancing Vitamin B treatment. This serum restores maximum moisture to the face and is always encouraged after a Vitamin C is applied.
My favorite Vitamin B treatment:
SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 Gel
Tip: The vitamin oils can be expensive. Using both C and B are encouraged, but if you can only swing one to start, stick with the Vitamin C. Don't skimp on quality either. Long-term benefits of quality skincare products far outweigh the few dollars you may save short-term.
STEP 4: Allow the vitamins to sink into your skin for a few minutes. Follow that process with a UV protective facial moisturizer, with a minimum SPF of 30. Then, for an added glow, slap on a sexy tinted moisturizer!
My favorite moisturizers:
With SPF protection: Peter Thomas Roth Ultra-Lite SPF 30
Tinted moisturizer: Balm Shelter Medium Shade
Tip: Always apply your UV protective moisturizer to your entire neck and upper chest, as well. Saggy necks are never in style!
