I remember the eve of the world’s first Fashion’s Night Out in 2009… at the time I was still living in New York; I resided as the fabulous In-House Stylist at the Diane von Furstenberg corporate headquarters. The CFDA {Council of Fashion Designer’s of America} (headed by DVF, herself) and Vogue magazine launched this global initiative for the eve of New York fashion week to keep all stores open late to encourage consumers to shop and support the retail business and economy.
What started in New York as a fashion block party {champagne flutes flying and female DJs spinning} has turned into a global phenomenon as the annual Fashion’s Night Out has migrated to all major U.S. cities and as far as China and Australia.
While working at DVF, I always thought I’d never be able to experience my very own Fashion’s Night Out {gallivanting store to store, champagne in hand}, since I was always working our event of the night…
