On July 4th I was at a friend's party at his Malibu beach house, and next door Paris Hilton was having her annual Malibu beach party, too. Paparazzi had swarmed the beach all morning in high anticipation of Hilton's bash, but the tide was so high on this day that the ocean was creeping up onto the entire beachfront.

One after another, paparazzi were getting swallowed up by the current. They dug their toes in the sand, balancing between crashing waves to keep their cameras afloat, trying to capture just one perfect photo of Hilton's balcony perched just inches away. Fighting to survive.
