MY FAIR LADY

posted by Elshane on Jun 15 2015, under Fashion

My perfect California Sunday consists of a boozy brunch followed by a trip to the flea market.

Why? What's greater than an excuse to wear a chic daytime outfit, grab a glass or two of rosé, and take away a vintage necklace as a memory.

Aside from a day spent at the cliff-side beach clubs in Capri, Italy, I can't think of a better way to spend a Sunday...can you?

ROMPING WITH RETNA

posted by Elshane on Jun 10 2015, under Fashion

Don't leave a girl alone in star-studded crystal western boots.

Who else wants a graffiti wall in their home? This wall is a Retna...errr'body's talking about him these days in the art world.

These artists will come and go.

But these boots? They'll last a lifetime.

NAKED LIP GLOSS

posted by Elshane on Jun 8 2015, under Beauty

I have a confession. I have always {and will always} be a simple chapstick girl.

But this series of Urban Decay Naked Ultra Nourishing Lip Gloss kinda sorta maybe brought me to the dark side.

I love these glosses because they're so sheer so they really just accentuate your natural lip color and simply add a little sexy shine. They're not sticky {sticky lip gloss terrifies me}, and they're not creamy {creamy lip gloss reminds me of frosted lips from the 90's}. They're a perfect in between.

And, since they're labeled "nourishing" on the packaging, it makes me feel like I'm applying chapstick, after all! So, yeah... I'm into them. A lot.

DESERT DESERTED

posted by Elshane on Jun 3 2015, under Fashion

You can guess by now that I'm that girl who wears the pants! ;)

Not any pants though... it's rare you'll find me in a skinny.

Drop crotch, wide leg, trousers, cropped, pleated, culottes, joggers... now that's more like it!

The truth is, I don't like skinny jeans because they're just so restricting and common. Finding a unique pair of pants is like getting the one slice of birthday cake with the name written on the icing-- everyone wants it, but only the lucky one gets it!

These pants are made for walking. And strutting. And smiling...

{BIKINI BOOTCAMP} PHYSIQUE 57 WORKOUT

posted by Elshane on Jun 1 2015, under Health/Fitness

That time I {ultra-fabulously} popped out of my wedding cake in near sheer nudeness? Those bikini beach selfies

The belly shirts. The mini skirts. The crop tops. The underwear as outerwear. The tight dresses. The confidence.

I can thank Physique 57's workout studio for all of these moments!

Physique, as most nickname it, is a form of interval training mixed with ballet-inspired movements, cardio and strength training, and stretch relief, all in the sake of lengthening and leaning your bod!

I've been a devoted member of the tribe for three years now, and if you think it gets easier by the year, well, it doesn't.  It's one of those workouts where the more you do it, the harder it gets. These movements are so small and defined, that it takes true devotion to understand your own body and how it works. And just when you think you've figured it out, they change up the movements on you!
I grind away at the Physique 57 studios in New York City, Los Angeles, and the Hamptons, and now I see that they've opened in Dubai and Bangkok, as well!

But, if you don't live in any of these areas, they sell videos so you can do the workout at home in your living room with your girls. I've done this a few times with friends and it proves to be quite the intense and rewarding workout scenario! (Sidenote, I drag my husband to class every once in a while and he sweats like I've never seen before! It's amazing how hard this workout is for men.)

Check out the Physique 57 website to see class, package, and video options in your area! I dare you to allow Physique to sculpt you a six-pack in time for summer. :)

HOLIDAY WEEKEND POOL PARTY

posted by Elshane on May 26 2015, under Home Decor/Entertaining

And with the blink of an eye, summer is once again upon us!

To celebrate, I threw a pool party and BBQ for 80 of my closest friends. You know, just the inner circle! ;)

I served Svedka Vodka cocktails using their new Grapefruit Jalapeno flavored vodka. Mixed with white cranberry juice and fresh lime juice, and garnished with fresh basil picked from my garden, it was refreshing and tasty. Sort of that thing where... you can't have just one!

Some party highlights:

Breaking in my new Safavieh outdoor furniture (to rave reviews)!

VIP guest Jeff Ross from Comedy Central kicking back all day long (all of the boys at the party were "freaking out" as we ladies would appropriately describe).

Successfully finishing the keg (always a proud moment, don't you agree?)

The Andy Cohen-themed 12-person Shotski making its rotation around the party all day long.

I got invited to a destination wedding this weekend from a couple 5-days away from getting married...A couple I had never met before. And I considered it...

The 8 dogs who showed up to boogie down with Hollywood Homer.

The ribs, steak, chicken, turkey burgers, and sausages. And all of the men who manned the grill with courage and conviction.

Oh, and of course night swimming with the last 12 remaining guests in the 85 degree heated pool!

Want to see more action from the actual party? Check out some photos of the big event on my instagram @elshanesworld!

MAD FOR MAXI

posted by Elshane on May 22 2015, under Fashion

Tastes like spring! Aside from the obvious perks of sunshine, (outdoor brunch, weekends at the beach, a golden glow, BBQ’ing with friends-- the list goes on), spring allows fashion to be free, fabulous, and unrestricting!

This season, I won’t leave home without a maxi skirt with a slit up the front. It’s the ultimate investment piece for day-to-night effortless style.

I’ve compiled five real-life scenarios for the perfect maxi skirt moment, and how to style the skirt:

1. Sunday Afternoon with the Girls: Whether you’re between the beach, a BBQ, or a mid-day hang session, a maxi skirt is your perfect solution for an afternoon with your girlfriends. Paired back to a simple tank, a denim jacket, and wedges, this look gives off a classic “wear anywhere” vibe, should there be any impromptu change of plans!

2. Important Work Meeting: Tired of the same business casual look? Dress up your maxi skirt by tucking in a classic button down shirt and throwing over a chic, tailored blazer to complete the look.  It’s a fresh way to step into ‘corporate chic’!

3. Date Night: Grab that crop top hanging in your closet and put her to work! The great benefit to a maxi skirt is that they typically fall at the small of your waist, above your belly button, allowing the perfect blank canvas for a crop top moment! Throw on a tall pair of heels and an oversized clutch and pencil it in as a night to remember!

4. Packing for Vacation: One of the greatest perks of a maxi skirt is its clear versatility. Pack it for a trip and it will never let you down.

5. Heading to the Beach: If denim cut-off shorts are no longer your thing (I’m with you here!), you have the chance to elevate your beach style with a maxi skirt as a cover up. A bikini and a maxi skirt allow you to bring fashion beachside, while still feeling covered up in all the right places!

For my maxi look, I paired the skirt with a classic button down skirt tied at the waist for an extra hint of style. I added my favorite new JustFab stacked heels, oversized clutch, and stack of rings. To me, this look reads spring gone chic!

INTERIOR INSPO: A DOSE OF PALM SPRINGS DECOR

posted by Elshane on May 18 2015, under Home Decor/Entertaining

Call it the War of the West... two hotels side by side, each designed by two of our home decor world's greatest and most individually unique artists, Jonathan Adler vs. Kelly Wearstler. Here, we have The Parker Palm Springs vs. The Avalon Palm Springs.

The Parker can thank Jonathan Adler for their 2004 re-design, a luxe bohemian oasis with a mix of global design influences —  Peruvian weavings and Edwardian chairs. You can spot pieces from his own collection every so often, like his famous Muse sculptures.

The Avalon (originally The Viceroy but with a recent name change) has Kelly Wearstler written all over it, when she brought her classic Hollywood Regency glamour straight to the desert. Black and White geometric walls are splattered with punches of citron and framed with sculptural trees.

Since my own home is a sanctuary of both Adler and Wearstler, it was hard to pick a winner.

But I did. The Parker.

Enjoy photos of both hotels. I hope you can guess which photos are which hotel! Hint-- anything black, white, and citron is The Avalon (aside from The Parker's life-sized outdoor chess game), everything else is The Parker!
