POWER PLAY

posted by Elshane on Nov 17 2014, under Fashion

From New York to LA, a power chick always keeps pencil skirts in full rotation. I tossed my typical black pencil skirts to the side this season in exchange for surprisingly welcomed brights and prints.

On this day, I was off to a few casual meetings in Beverly Hills, so a matching top was the only right answer. In a more corporate setting, I would have swapped the floral tee for a classic white button down, tucked in with a wide belt.

Always play the part...just never follow the rules!

GREEN WITH ENVY

posted by Elshane on Dec 23 2014, under Fashion

A monochromatic looks takes the win time after time. It's quite possibly the most effortless way to journey into chic-ville. Grab two like-colored items in your closet and pair away. Of course, if you're going to choose pink on pink, like I frequently do, you may not end up in chic-ville, but rather Candy Land...which is equally, if not more heartwarming IMHO!

Curious about what colors are best in a monochromatic scheme? Stick to safe hues to start like navy, olive, or ivory. Don't forget a smile and a shoulder swag to finish the lewk!

MAJOR IN MAJE

posted by Elshane on Aug 24 2015, under Fashion

I completed the Beverly Center's Fall Fashion "Show Us Your Style" challenge!

Rewind. Let me explain...

I've partnered with the Beverly Center {for those who don't live in or around LA, it's an epic mall with wall to wall designers from Jimmy Choo and Dolce & Gabbana to Uniqlo and quite possibly the world's largest H&M} to complete a head-to-toe fall fashion lewk from the mall for under $250. One rule? I could only use two accessory-only items from my current wardrobe to complete the look!

So to the mall I went! I could have hit H&M for a multi-faceted, extraordinary layered look equip with jewels, handbags, and jackets galore for under $250-- but I had to stick to my roots-- I have expensive taste.

Bloomingdales was a natural first stop. I picked up this $187 (on sale!) Maje dress and paired it back to my personal hat and slouchy boots for an effortless and clean intro to fall vibe.

Ok, ok. I wish I could have thrown on some sunnies and a stack of bangles, too. But I wanted to follow every rule! There's something nice about going au natural, right?

Come join me and fellow blogger babes at the Beverly Center fall fashion event on Wednesday, September 2nd! See you there. xo

A SUEDE STORY

posted by Elshane on Sep 28 2015, under Fashion

Tales of a working woman (likely part 14,670 on this blog)...

Find a quickie outfit on the go that will get you from A to B, looking fly as a female superpower, and without breaking the bank? {This faux suede shift dress is under $100!}

I'd go for a look like this-- from office to o-u-t-i-e; it's casual, sophisticated, and allows you room for personality through accessories and makeup selections.

I went off the beaten path a little with this oversized fur messenger bag as my accessory pop of the day. It's vintage from a flea market, so sorry to share that I can't guide you where to get your own, but I listed a few similar options in my Shop The Look section for both the fur-lover, and the PETA-friend.

Fall fashion is about staying on the right path...but beating to your own drum. After all, that's always been the Elshane's World way...

PLAID COUNTRY

posted by Elshane on Oct 5 2015, under Fashion

You can call me the anti-"flannel shirt tied around the waist or flannel shirt in general" kind of girl, and I'll stick by it 100%. But when you present to me a unique one-of-a-kind item like this 3.1 Phillip Lim Apron Skirt with Suspenders and try to tell me not to splurge on it, there's no resistance to be had.

This plaid-everything-piece is just that. If you catch me in jeans (maybe once every other month, max), you'll find me throwing this item over my denim. If you catch me in a body-con sheath (on the regular), you can find me draping this apron over the dress almost like a jacket...or accessory. It's the perfect add on that's 99 parts insane, and one part just right.

Don't you agree?

COUNTRYSIDE ROMANCE

posted by Elshane on Oct 7 2015, under Fashion

There's something about twirling in chiffon in the Texas countryside that just does it for me!

This L'Agence printed chiffon maxi is the perfect addition to your fall wardrobe. It's one of those items that I stash away in the closet for upcoming fall weekend happenings, like a bridal shower, sunset gathering, birthday party, or wine tasting.

Plus, I threw on this long sleeve under layer for an added dimension of style. Don't be confined by sleeveless dresses in fall weather-- an under layer only adds extra style to the mix!

FIELD OF DREAMS

posted by Elshane on Oct 26 2015, under Baby/Motherhood

If you're checking my instagram this afternoon @elshanesworld, you'll hear the exciting news! I'm pregnant with a baby girl due in March!! I'll spare all of the fun, juicy details for another post on my blog later this week, so stay tuned...

This look was actually inspired by my little mini me to be. A little fur, a little chiffon, and a ton of twirling baby stars-- isn't that every little girl's fantasy? It still is mine...

My blog has always been a reflection of my life, and now with this new chapter, it will be no different. Don't expect to see any less color explosions, turban experimentation, tequila party binges, or workouts in 25 inch pony tails. I'll never stop being me.

But instead, I'm just adding a new dimension to my world. A destination site for the power chick working mom who wants it all...

CREAM OF THE CROPPED

posted by Elshane on Aug 22 2016, under Fashion

There's something about a trendy item that just never sits well with me. I picture walking into a restaurant towards a sea of twinning girls, my absolute worst nightmare.

But then again, to abandon trends all together is not my style either. Trendy girls can't just call "dibs" on certain looks-- not under my watch!

So I stand somewhere in the middle. Here's a case where I found a really trendy item-- the denim culotte, and made the most of it. For under $65, I scored not only something that has refreshed my closet in a major way, but also an item that flatters my body and is beyond baby-proof. {Shout out to never wear silk again, sadly. The spit-up game is real.}

These culottes from CottonOn were just what I needed last weekend during a routine trip to Rodeo Drive. And to be able to pair them back to my staple designer shoes and accessories made me feel at home where I'm most myself... on the streets of Beverly Hills, of course!!! :)
