STATEMENT EARRINGS | FARFETCH.COM

posted by Elshane on Jul 17 2018, under Life of a Stylist

I had the pleasure of being interviewed by one of my go-to luxury fashion destinations-- Farfetch.com. They asked me to discuss my favorite accessories trend of the summer, which naturally is a statement earring moment!

Truthfully, I can't get enough of the statement earring craze. She comes in all shapes and sizes, from mismatched (a personal favorite), to tassel, to oversized hoops and tiny hoops, and the list goes on. Below, I graze the topic and share some must-score earrings for our highly anticipated 2018/2019 fasHUN season ahead!

Plus, you can shop my favorites in my SHOP THE LOOK section below! My ears are already ringing! ;)

HOSTED BY YOURS TRULY

posted by Elshane on May 14 2018, under Home Decor/Entertaining

Well New York has been off to an exciting start! You have to remember, the last time I lived here, I was in my 20's, working a 9-7 job, single, and living in a shoe box studio.

Now, 8 years later I'm back and I'm a complete 180! I'm in my 30's, own my own business on my own time, I'm married with a daughter, and living in an apartment {and life!} of my dreams.

So yes, New York has been fun. But... there was something missing...

I was invited (and honored) to host a Mother's Day event in conjuntion with Cybex (the high end stroller and car seat company) and Fashion Mamas (a members-only organization that brings together working mamas in the fashion industry).

This event came at the perfect time for me. Amist relishing the new adventure that was New York City, came a deep loneliness -- missing my mama friends, companions, and co-workers in Los Angeles whom I had grown so close to -- sharing every silly detail about our parenting existance.

Although relationships like that never fade, it was important that I carved new relationships with like-minded mothers in New York City, so I jumped on the opportunity to host an event that catered to ultimate boss mamas.

The company, the decor, the florals, the food, and the laughs... it was all divine! Thank you to all who attended my Mother's Day brunch. I loved meeting each and every one of you! Until next time...

XO

NEW BEGINNINGS: NEW YORK CITY

posted by Elshane on Apr 11 2018, under Fashion

So, yeah, it's been quite a little bit of time since my last post. I'll give it to you straight.

...It was a perfect day in LA, 80 degrees. I had spent the day chasing my daughter around our pool in the backyard, our dog following our every move. A classic, "ahh haaa...LA is simply the best" kind of day. Then my husband came home from work and dropped a mini bomb on us... we kinda, sorta, maybe, probably, had to move to NYC within the month. {For his job.}

WHAT?

I was sad for like... one week. Devastated. Crushed.

Our perfect LA life was over in the blink of an eye. Both my husband and I were from NYC-- we knew exactly what we were getting into moving back to the city. It wasn't a life we wanted.

OK, SO THEN...

The Stoneman Douglas High School shooting happened. Instantly I didn't care ONE bit about my move. Why on earth did it matter that I was moving across the country with my happy and healthy family? I felt so blessed just to be able to experience this life with the people I cherish most.

In the end, I reminded myself that life isn't always the stick figure drawing you made up in school. A four person family holding hands in front of your square house-- instead, it's most certainly a scribbled up version of just that. It's the eraser marks and the wobbly lines in between the final portrait. And I learned that quickly with this move. Yes-- I miss LA deeply, but we will be back, one day very soon. In the meantime, I'm going to live the best life I can live with the people I love most, wherever that may be.

So from that awakening onwards, it's just been GREEN LIGHT. Pack, sort, shuffle, organize, rent, buy, store, save, hire, fire. MOVE.

And that's how we did it. Welcome to Elshanesworld.com... the New York City edition!

COLOR YOUR SEASON WITH OPI!

posted by Elshane on Jan 10 2018, under Beauty

If you know me-- you know there are a few recognizable and consistent staples in my Elshane palette that paint the picture of my vibe.

Nails, Nails, Nails! Nails have always been at the forefront of my style-- who remembers when I had my husband's face intricately painted on my ring finger for my wedding? Or the day I had to cut my claws-- yes, the day before I went into labor with my daughter. {I had some sort of mama-intuition that long nails wouldn't be the best for diaper changing-- boy was I right!}

Nails have always completed my look. So when I had the opportunity to test the new OPI Color Your Season nail lacquer collectionexclusive to Ulta Beauty, I dove right in.

Above, you'll find the outcome-- a beautiful video portrayal of a day in the life of, well... me... as I add my favorite accessory to every look-- my nail art! The nails become alive... they become ART.

We spent days and days before filming this video playing around with color combinations and nail designs. What I loved most about this nail lacquer set is that I was able to go a little outside of the norm of one's comfort zone when mixing colors and graphics for the nail designs.

Best yet? You can purchase the entire color palette exclusively at Ulta stores and on ulta.com! And...and...BIG AND... stay tuned on my Instagram over the next few days for a chance to win the entire collection, too!

Enjoy some behind the scenes shots of the incredible nail art. You can clearly see how much fun we had!! What's your favorite nail design? Comment below! xx

BLUE IS THE WARMEST COLOR

posted by Elshane on Jan 9 2018, under Fashion

January rolls around, and along with resolutions (who else made 2018 about meditation and self awareness?) comes a fresh breath of individual style.

With holiday season behind us, winter fashion miraculously takes a new turn-- less sparkle and tartan, and more color in celebration of pre-spring.

I take the month of January to dig-- I mean really, really dig-- into the back of my closet and revive the moments of winter's past. Before we know it, cold weather will be behind us; take out that sweater dress, that blazer, that tall boot that you lived in three years ago, and give it another chance! For although January is the month of new, it's also the month that we most connect to our inner, best self.

Happy January! Now get digging and have fun!

A GIRL AND HER BOOTS

posted by Elshane on Jan 2 2018, under Fashion

Sometimes you see a trend in a magazine, on the internet, on social media...and ask yourself-- is it fleeting? Is it worth the splurge?

Such was the case with the over the knee red boot that I started to see on the New York runways for fall 2017 collections (way back in spring 2017). By September, I knew I loved it, but I just wasn't sure if it would last.

When I make a trend investment, contrary to the opinion of many, I like to invest in the best version of the trend, instead of the "H&M" version. This way, as the trend starts to evaporate, you don't actually own the trend-- you own a "piece of art" that never goes out of style, rather than a cheap copy that gets thrown in the giveaway pile.

So fast forward when I saw these Valentino boots, I knew destiny was staring me straight in the face. And that's the short tale of how I met my favorite boots. xoxo

IN BOOTS, WILL WALK {TO INSTAGRAM}

posted by Elshane on Dec 14 2017, under Fashion

These Chanel boots have seen a lot of love lately. What hasn't seen a lot of love? My bloggie baby! It's been the craziest month-- and I hope you have been following along the journey on my Instagram

The truth is, this whole blog landscape has been feeling a bit stale to me for awhile now. It's lacking that instant gratification feeling; the way that US Weekly sometimes tastes just a bit better than Vogue... there's something about the instant world of Instagram and Instagram Stories that has me devoting most of my time to the app, rather than this mecca of a diary that I have been curating so passionately for the past eight years of my life.

As this instant world gets more and more, well...for lack of a better word, instant... I find that apps on my iPhone are more of a go-to than logging onto a blog on my laptop. Besides, people really love to shop off of Instagram-- myself included. Do you shop off of Instagram?

Curious how you guys feel about the blog vs. Instagram world? Are you reading blogs as often as you used to? What platforms are you shopping off of? I'd love to hear your feedback!! XO

METALLICS FOR FALL

posted by Elshane on Nov 9 2017, under Fashion

It's pretty easy to spot one of fall's biggest fashion moments this season: SILVER METALLIC!

What's great about this trend is that if you invest properly, you can end up with a timeless, and potentially seasonless piece, just like this effortless dress that is intricately woven with blue and silver metallic. Worn in fall with boots, or spring with a sandal, this silver investment piece will last for seasons to come.

Can you just picture a sparkily silver metallic moment on the Kira Kira Instagram app?! {Who loves that filter as much as me?!}  Plus, silver is so easy to style-- simply pair the statement item back to basic black and white for a look so fresh and clean!

Take a look at some seasonless silver metallic items I recommend in my SHOP THE LOOK section below!
